LARGE POSSESSIONS OVER THE WORLD.

The French have colonies and dependencies with a total area of 4,000,000 square miles, while the population is 40,000,000. Germany, on the other hand, has only 1,000,000 square miles of territory outside Germany itself, but the population of this 1,000,000 square miles is 13,000,000. The English colonies, possessions and protectorates have a total area of 11,221, 000 square miles and a population of 372, 000,000.
